Burnham Thorpe is one of the many Burnhams in this lovely part of North Norfolk. Burnham Thorpe is Nelson’s Birthplace and his father was the Rector at the local church. Burnham Overy Staithe is the nearest harbour and there are more beaches at Holkham and Wells. This whole area is very popular for families with young children as there are so many things to do. Crabbing, beach combing, galleries, museums and the Wells Maltings is our new local, coastal theatre and cinema.
Burnham Market, also known as “Fulham on Sea” has some great shops. There is Golf at Brancaster, Hunstanton and other links courses up and down the coast. Sailing in Brancaster Staithe, Overy Staithe and Wells next the sea.
There are bird reserves at Cley and Titchwell as well as Pensthorpe, made famous by Spring Watch.
The Lord Nelson pub in the village has a big garden and serves reasonable food. There are plenty of other good pubs in the area and Wells caters well for the Fish and Chip lovers.
